WHAT TO EXPECT

Weather is always a factor when fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska so check the forecast but realize that conditions can change suddenly so be prepared to dress appropriately for many different and varying conditions. You must have rain gear, sunscreen and layered clothing.

There will be ample opportunity for photographs on your Alaskan fishing trip so make sure you have a good camera along that can withstand the elements.

When it comes to Kenai river fishing trout and sockeye salmon opens on June 11. Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden are prolific all year long. Anglers that are seeking world-class trophy rainbow trout should concentrate their efforts during the autumn months.

The sockeye salmon are at peak abundance from mid-July through the first week of August.

Silver salmon fishing is best from the third week of August through the end of October.

Anglers must provide their own fishing license, lunch or snacks and beverages. Arrangements can be made to provide food and drink for additional cost.

The Kenai River fishing guides will provide the boat and all fishing gear. Guides will also clean fish and provide all the necessary expertise for a quality trip tailored to the angler’s needs.

All trips are conducted out of a custom-built 20-foot drift boat. All rods and reels are G.Loomis, Sage, Lamson and Shimano. Anglers are welcome to bring their own rods, reels and tackle if they prefer.

My son really wanted to fish on our trip to Alaska and not being a fisherman myself, I figured the best option was a guide. Not only did Jason accommodate our last minute scheduling, but he ensured we had a great time, caught the fish, and best of all, made memories that will last a lifetime. ps. Even this "non-fisherman" caught a few! Highly recommend Jason to anyone.

Cant wait to come back ice fishing with Jason later on. This was so much fun and we saw all kinds of wildlife. Caught fish too. No giants but that doesnt matter. Its just fun being out there and learning.

Never disappointing with Jason on the Kenai. The guy flat out knows his stuff and what to do in certain situations. I also felt very safe with him out on the water. Taught me a lot and I hope to visit Cooper Landing again soon

Best fishin guide in Cooper landing! Ive used others in past years and Jason is at the top of the list. His knowledge level was crazy and most importantly he got us on the fish. Loved his approach and loved that he taught us too.

Had a great day. Jason is the most knowledgeable, professional, and respectful guide on the Kenai. He loves to fish and will put you on fish even when the count is slow. We all limited out. With no personal flossing experience, I was quickly able to pick the skill up thanks to his expertise. He’s also a good guy who treats the land, other fishers, and fishing regulations with upmost respect. On top of all that he is easy to get along with and a funny guy. I highly recommend using his service. He also gave us recommendations on a killer but simple ceviche recipe and sent us home with fat fillets in the cooler.
