We Launched Our New Website

Jason Lesmeister, owner of Jason’s Guide Service, has 20 years of experience as an Alaskan fishing guide, ten of them on the Kenai River, so he is well qualified to help visiting anglers shorten the necessary learning curve for a successful trip.

He has just launched his new website, www.JasonsGuideService.com.The website was redesigned from the ground up and now contains helpful information about the fish to be found in the Kenai River, the best season for each, and the services and equipment Lesmeister offers.

When asked about the upgraded website, Lesmeister said, “I love everything about our new web presence. It’s going to allow me to provide more detailed information about the gear we use and what we are catching day in and day out. I will also be updating my blog on the website on a regular basis so you can read up on our guests’ adventures.”

Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden appeal to fishermen because they bite readily, put up an aggressive fight, and are plentiful all year. Red (sockeye) salmon, silver (coho) and other salmon species migrate up the Kenai River at certain times. Sockeye salmon peak from mid-July through the first week in August. Silver salmon fishing is best from the third week of August through the end of October.

Lesmeister’s Kenai River guiding service provides all the equipment you might need, including custom built 20 foot drift boats, G. Loomis, Sage, Lamson and Shimano rods and reels, and all tackle and baits. They will also clean fish and offer other expertise necessary for a quality trip.

Ice fishing the Kenai and surrounding lakes is also outstanding and Jason’s Guide Service is one of the few serious organizations serving this type of fishing and implement the latest technology to locate the fish and keep you warm on the ice.

Jason is headquartered in Cooper Landing, Alaska, and covers the entire Kenai River resource – Kenai, Soldotna, Sterling, Skilak Lake, Kenai Lake, and the Cooper Landing Area. Fishermen are encouraged to bring their cameras so they can post photos of their catch with the others on the website’s “Braggin’ Board”. It is a good idea to make reservations for prime seasons as far in advance as possible.

Jason is truly Amazing!! He took my wife and I out for the trip of a Lifetime! Fishing was great and he was extremely helpful to my wife who was brand new to fly fishing. We felt well taken care of, safe, and prepared. We hope you enjoy your Idaho wine Jason! Cheers!

Better late than never! I had the luxury of Jason guiding me for a day of fly fishing. Fortunately for me, the other party was a no show, so I had the trip to myself. Oh, did I mention that I have never fly fished ever? Jason was EXTREMELY patient and within no time, I was catching fish. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and even if I hadn't caught a fish, it would have been money well spent. Seriously, if you get the chance, take a tour with him... you will not regret it.

Jason’s tour was awesome; hands down I would recommend him if you are looking to do some salmon fishing while in Alaska - whether you are an experienced fisherman or not! We are definitely not experienced; we came to Cooper Landing with our 11 and 13 year old sons on our first trip to Alaska and thought it would be fun to try and catch some “wild caught sockeye salmon” since we love eating it at home. We told Jason we had no idea what we were doing and to give us a “city slicker” tour :) He was super friendly and accommodating - he had the waders and waterproof boots, top-notch equipment, a very nice and comfortable boat; and was very conscientious about keeping all of us safe and making sure we had an awesome time.

He obviously is a talented guide and fisherman, but was so helpful and willing to patiently teach us the basics that we needed to know to get the most out of our 4-hour tour. Out of pure luck (not skill) we caught a huge sockeye which we enjoyed for dinner tonight (amazing!!). He even gutted and filleted the fish for us right on the spot so we could take it back to our cabin ready to eat! But even if we wouldn’t have caught that fish it was a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend. Just the ride on Jason’s boat on the Kenai river was super enjoyable and beautiful; he knew everything about the area and pointed out so many fantastic elements of the wildlife and surrounding environment that really made us and our kids appreciate the entire experience.

A+++ - call Jason if you are looking for any kind of half day or full day Alaskan wilderness adventure; this guy has been doing this for 26 years and is an absolute PRO.

My trip with Jason was awesome! We caught a good amount of fish and we learned a lot from Jason. Great guy with vast knowledge of the river and different water ways. Will be back for sure and highly recommend.

I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to go on several fishing excursions in my life. But nothing has ever compared to my time with Jason. Jason's respect and love for nature is above anything I've experienced and it left me with such a different appreciation when hunting/fishing. The best of the best right here.
